Brenda D. Forman is the first African American and female to serve as Clerk in Broward County, Florida. She was first elected as Clerk in November 2016, and was sworn into office on January 3, 2017. In August 2020, she was re-elected for a second term, and was sworn into office on January 5, 2021.
Also, in August 2021, Clerk Forman took over the function of the recording division from the County.
Before she was elected as Clerk, Ms. Forman studied at Broward College and Union Institute University. Her prior work experiences include the Broward County Clerk of Courts Office, ChildNet, the State Attorney’s Office, and CEO and founder of B Dixon Mortgage Company. In addition, she has also been a licensed real estate agent for eighteen years.
Ms. Forman has been an advocate against domestic violence, Human Trafficking, the exploitation of missing children for several years.
She is also actively involved in a number of community organizations such as the Broward County Bar Association, South Broward Bar Association, Caribbean Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association, Broward County Police Chiefs Association, Ft. Lauderdale Black Police Officer Association(FLBPOA), National Council of Negro Women(NCNW), BCCPA Domestic Violence Committee, is a member of the Board of Governor for the Tower Club, Ft Lauderdale; South Florida Noble-Black Law Enforcement(NOBLE), South Broward Board of Realtors, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and the Florida League of Cities.
She sits on the board with Children Harbor and The Board of Governors for the Tower Club.
Clerk Forman is honored to serve as the official record-keeper for the Broward County court system. She protects the public trust by performing her statutory and ministerial duties of ensuring that all records are timely and accurately maintained.
